Welcome to this issue,
Never have I been more certain that I chose the right place to live than over the last few strange, frightening, often sad, but ultimately heart-warming, Covid-19 affected months. To say that I am proud to be part of this community is an understatement. Friends, neighbours and total strangers have rallied around to support each other. Hearing the stories of new friendships made and wider community groups established, is wonderful. It makes me all the happier that my husband and I chose The Heatons when we were looking for our forever family home twenty odd years ago.
All of us on the MOOR team have had difficult conversations with local businesses over the last eight weeks: just like us, (being a small business), they’re all worried about the future, their staff and their customers. It’s been an uncertain and worrying time for all of us and the sad fact is that some businesses will not survive the effects of Covid-19. Happily, many others have been able to continue trading by adapting their offering and their work mode, whilst others are sitting tight, desperate to open for business again – all in the certainty that the loyal Heatons community will support a shop local message more strongly than ever. Seeing local businesses large and small, supporting their community and doing whatever they can to help has been wonderful. It’s now our turn as residents and consumers to help bring our economy back to life, bit by bit, supporting who we can, when we can.
MOOR too has been adapting to the challenges that the last few months have presented. We’ll soon be sharing some exciting news about a new way to support our advertisers and indeed all Heatons businesses and community groups, not just in the current situation but going forward into a new type of ‘normal’ – whatever that may be.
Be sensible, stay safe, and continue supporting your fellow Heatonians and local businesses. This is a great place to live!
Regards
