It’s Festival Time Again

4HTA Summer Festival 2015 -27As well as being Father’s Day, June 19th is the date for the 7th annual 4HTA Heatons Summer Festival. We’ve a few surprises for dads young and old, but whatever happens, make sure your dad is ‘tug-o-war’ ready!

This madness all started in 2010 when half a dozen 4HTA members (all local businesses) had the idea of hosting a ‘food festival’ to help promote local traders. Fast forward six years and the 4HTA now hosts and finances a huge, family-focussed event that entertains upwards of 9000 people on the day and is regarded as one of Stockport’s flagship festivals.

So what’s happening this year? Well, the underlying ethos remains the same – to give local businesses the chance to reach potential new customers: all wrapped up in a fun-packed, family-focussed event. Which means there’ll be lots of market stalls – so pop by and say ‘hi’ to as many as possible and don’t forget to ‘shop local’! We’ve acted on your feedback so this year we have MORE food outlets, MORE coffee pods and importantly, MORE toilets: all of which adds up to LESS queuing!

The whole family can enjoy ever-popular attractions like the falconry display, strolling entertainers, mini-funfair rides, face painters, Punch and Judy show, kids’ fête style games and a whole section given over to trying out sports like lacrosse, tennis, rugby and basketball – even dad can have a go!

The bars will be serving real ales, cider, Pimms and lager. And the food stalls promise something to satisfy all tastes, from burgers to curry and lots in between – exclusively from our local restaurants we’re proud to say.

On stage you’ll be treated to a range of local musical talent, including Stevie Williams, Mandy Montgomery & The Transport Band, Fuse & the Small Blonde, Colette Todd, and junior band, Square One. Mix in a Zumba spot and you’ve got a great afternoon of entertainment with something to please everyone, from tots to grandparents.

This year the grand raffle has been handed to the Stockport Rotary Club: they do such good (often unrecognised) work in The Heatons, so please buy a ticket.

Rotary will distribute all proceeds from the raffle to local good causes.
