I love this time of year.
With no expectations of the weather, sunny days are a bonus, but rainy days are to be expected and so somehow don’t feel so bad and bring with them the novelty of wearing the winter coats and boots that have not seen an outing for a good six months. And everything smells so good.
For me, as a constant list maker, autumn is a wonderful time. It carries a sense of a new year without the practical constraints of a post-Christmas, cold, dark January. It really is a great time to get loads of jobs done around the house and garden, sort out finances, get fit, and dare I say it, book a holiday for next year!
I’m feeling this list-making urge particularly keenly this year, as my eldest recently started high school and that feeling of new starts is dominating our household. With her lists of new uniform requirements and the chance to purchase lots of new stationery, I was busy making my own ‘jobs around the house’ spreadsheet (I kid you not). Now I just need to find the time to start working through it!
Though MOOR can’t give you time, this issue is packed with ways to help you make the most of your autumn, from cracking on with those house and garden jobs, taking time to bake Halloween gingerbread, sprucing up your wardrobe to simply enjoying a long walk or cosying up in a café with a hot chocolate.
As always, try and support local traders and retailers where you can and most importantly enjoy this beautiful time of year.
