With summer knocking at the door, this issue is all about making the most of your Heatons in the (hopefully) warm weather. In honour of Father’s Day (though not exclusively for dads) we have a great beer review and if you’ve got a little one, you’ll welcome our guide to the best parks in the area and the review of buggy-friendly cafés.
It seems like only yesterday that I was one of the buggy-pushing parents around The Moor and yet as I write this, my eldest child and her friend have ventured out to a local café for the first time without adult supervision. She’ll be starting high school in September, so my daughter needs to begin to find a bit of independence – though in fairness it’s me that’s struggling with her growing up more than she is! So armed with money for cake and hot chocolate she set off to Juno and I am left reading a review of buggy-friendly cafés, wondering where the years have gone. The lesson I take from the situation is to make the most of these days – and by days, I’m referring to both the sunny days ahead of us over the next few months and the days I have whilst my children still want me to hang out with them. So, laptop away, I’m off to the park with my youngest.
