There is a four stage process that a customer goes through before making a purchase. These are summarised in the acronym A.I.D.A. This stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action. Attention (or Awareness): Your potential customers need to first be aware that your product exists. You need to grab their attention with a LOUD & PUNCHY headline or an attention grabbing image, to generate excitement.
Interest: Having got their attention, now develop their interest. How will your product enhance the lives of your customers? Don’t just list the features, sell the benefits!
Desire: Now make them really want it! Do this with time-bound offers, money-back guarantees or bonuses for buying more than one.
Action: This is the step that’s most often forgotten about. You need to tell your customers what to do! Examples include “CALL NOW FOR A FREE QUOTE” and “Order on-line now”! Make it as easy as possible for your customers to find you and make the purchase.
